AT a recent Passover Seder in Brooklyn, a man I know named Moishe delivered a speech beginning with a play on the traditional Passover question, ”What makes this night different from all other nights?”

”What makes this Seder different from all Seders I used to attend in the past?” asked Moishe. Echoing the ritual response, he proclaimed: ”I was a slave, and now I am free.” Then, a bombshell: ”Passover is supposed to be one of the most beloved of all Jewish holidays,” Moishe said. ”For me it used to be hell.”
